Blog: Gala Fundraiser 28th March 2014

Our dear friend Rosie Rossignuolo has organised a spectacular Gala night 28th March in St Kilda to help Rafael travel to Brasil for the World cup :-)

--------------------------------------------------------

Meet Rafael Moraes - The Great Warrior.

Rafael was diagnosed with stage 4 Neuroblastoma in July 2008.

Over the past 6 years Rafael has undergone countless treatments and regular stays at both Peter Mac and The Royal Children's Hospital.

All to fight that dreaded cancer!

To learn more you can check out Rafael's story at https://www.facebook.com/RafaelsWarriors or
https://www.rafaeldomingosmoraes.blogspot.com.au

It is a story of great courage, a story about a great warrior, a hero, a fighter, a champion.

He's an amazing little boy with an infectious smile. A smile that melts you away.

In the short time I've known Rafael Moraes it was his smile that got me. A smile so genuine, it takes away any pain or hurt. It makes our challenges seem so meaningless.

Why am I telling you about my mate Rafael ? Because I want to make Rafael's greatest dream become a reality.

For 4 years Rafael has been waiting for the World Cup in Brazil!

Not only is Rafael a great warrior, he's a passionate soccer player. His Dad Domingos is Brazilian and has coached him to be the BEST.

Rafael is currently having more aggressive chemotherapy and his doctors and family are trying to get him we'll enough to travel in June.

Let's help him achieve his dream -

On the 28th March, 7.30pm I'm hosting a Gala. Fundraising event at Theatre works in St Kilda.

"Credible Likeable Superstar. Role Model" comes directly to Melbourne from London where it has won many awards and critical acclaim. It is an inspiring work that makes us think about how we can be better role models for young people in the world.

It includes the live show followed by drinks and nibbles. I promise it will be a fun night of entertainment, raffles and auctions.

In an audacious and provocative protest against the world’s flagrant attempts to sexualise and commodify childhood, performance artist Kimmings and her 9-year-old niece Taylor decided to take on the global tween machine at its own game. They invented Catherine Bennett, a dinosaur-loving, bike-riding, tuna-pasta-eating pop star, and vowed to make her world famous to prove that an alternative was possible! In typically screwball and humorous fashion, Edinburgh Fringe First winner Bryony Kimmings asks: What does it really take to be a Credible Likeable Superstar Role Model for a child of the 21st century?

‘Hilarious, heartbreaking, troubling and inspirational. Kick-ass in all the right ways.’ ★★★★★ Time Out
‘A work of almost staggering warmth and fragility.’ ★★★★★ Scotsman
‘Bold, brave and very brilliant; don’t miss.’ ★★★★★ Independent
★★★★ Guardian
★★★★ Times
★★★★ Evening Standard
